Is that Important?

Today
I will talk about education. I believe that most of you here moreover all of
you here as academicians, totally agree that education is so important for our
life. Although the title of my speech today is heard like there is tendency
that sometimes I agree that education is not so important. However, don’t judge
me please because I will give my clarification. My clarification will start
from hot issues related to education in our beloved country, the second I will
tell you about the real goal of education and some theory about education, and
the last I will try to give my suggestion about how should education run in
Indonesia.
Ladies
and gentleman, do you know about Mr. Anang ? Of course he is not Ashanti’s
husband. This name suddenly became so popular when one of student in Senior
High School, Muhammad Tsaqif Wismadi from Senior High School 3 Yogyakarta,
declared he found the leakage of national examination in Mr. Anang’s blog. I
give my big appreciation to the boy. Yet, at the other side when my friends and
I have to face National Examination, my teachers said “Students please don’t be
so cheapskate to your friends. You enter this school together and you must out
from this school together”. This is so opposing when I remind that my teachers gives me a great principal of life
at the first time I entered the school by saying “Cheating is something so bad
and the aim of education is not our mark, but the knowledge”, everything just
end when national examination was coming. I believe this kind of experience is
not only mine, maybe some of you here ever have the same. I really sure about
it because my little sister in grade 6th
that have to face National Examination told me that she also got the same
instruction form her teachers. That is
why I dare to ask this big question. What is the real goal of education knowledge
or result?
In
this section I will tell you about the real goal of education. An expert ever
said that we are educable animal which it means one thing that make us
different from animal is we can be educated. The goal of education is to
humanize human. Every human is blessed with brain to think something good and
something bad. When someone knew they do something bad, yet they still do it, I
doubt to call them as educable animal just because they can’t. So sorry if it
gives hurt to the one did it, but according to me the simplest indicator that
someone can be educated is they can practice it. Then, which one is the most
important element in education? The components of education are input, process,
and output. We cannot separate it,
between input, process, and output they have synergy in education. Then, how
should education in Indonesia run to reach the goal of education?
Ladies
and gentleman, I have some suggestions to education in Indonesia. The first is
about National Examination, I agree that National Examination must exist.
National Examination is so important to know degree of quality of schools in
Indonesia. However, in every year leakage always become annual problem. Fear
about graduation brings most of students to cheat. Not only students but also
teachers give advice to work together in National Examination. That is why I
try to give my suggestion that one way to create clean education, education
must be free from pressure. I suggest that national examination must be exist
but give no contribution in graduation. National examination must be measure
only to know regions that really need help to increase the quality of
education. The second is about education in Indonesia must be free for all of
Indonesian minimally until bachelor degree. This is because the high cost of
education moreover in college brings most of students having tendency to pick
so much of benefits when they can get great position. Their focus will not to
create welfare for society, but “how to make my study cost back”. And the last, I really hope that education in
Indonesia can be independent from politic, just like in Finland. In Finland,
whosoever becomes power man who run the government moreover in education
ministry, the system of education is free from politic issues. Ladies and
gentleman, I know that our position today is so weak to make my suggestions
come true. However, we must prepare to replace power man in government today.
We can start from practice good morality that we got from education such as
stop cheating, minimally at the test. My beloved academicians, although our
voices today are neglected by power man that is so busy with their political
parties’s internal problems, trust me that one day some of us will replace
their position to run the government. It is depend to our hand to run the next
government, if you want to watch our country become better, let’s join me to
prepare our self to be a great power man by stop cheating. But all of choices
are in your hand. And the last I say education is something so important for
the one that can practice it.
